After the JCI Conference which my husband attended in Fontana, Pampanga we decided to have our dinner in Trinoma. It’s been quite awhile since we went there and we wanted to check if there’s anything new. So up up in the fourth floor, we looked for a new place to dine.
The balloons outside this relatively new restaurant, Hokkaido Ramen Santouka caught our attention and we browsed through the menu displayed for potential customers. Price was not unreasonable and the selection seemed okay. There was ramen, and there was tonkatsu so whichever our tastebuds craved for could be met by their food choices.
All tables for four were occupied so they seated us in a long table that we shared with 3 other pairs. I didn’t know how I felt about that since we would prefer some privacy whenever we eat out and not have another couple (whom we don’t know) seated next to us and we could both hear each other’s conversations. But anyway since we wanted to try this place…
At first we wanted to get their regular Shio Ramen and have it split into two. But then their Santouka Set Menu was more inviting.
We were surprised to see our pork cutlet plate served quickly after we had just placed our order.
But then the quite fast service didn’t last. We were waiting for at least the rice to arrive soon after so we could have the tonkatsu already, but then it didn’t. We had to follow up the rice and when it finally arrived it came along with the Shio Ramen and the other side dishes.
The food made up for some unmet expectations. I liked how the pork was tender and that it wasn’t dry. It also didn’t taste flour-y, the breading was just right. Their Shio Ramen was also very tasty and yet the flavor wasn’t strong. It’s something that my tastebuds do not mind tasting again soon. 🙂 Their Komi-Tamago was also of good quality and I could have more of those if it weren’t for the cholesterol. :p
My husband and I enjoyed the food in Hokkaido Ramen Santouka and we were full after having (3) cups of rice. We thought we could still have some Mochi Ice Cream after also in Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, but maybe next time.
If only the service were consistently fast then this would have been a great place to dine when you’re wanting ramen at a reasonable price. 🙂 How was your experience here? I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🙂
